Overview

Initially designed as a multi-phase project to keep the existing station on-site and operational, ESD 2 Fire Station 121 is a single-phase project located in the heart of an area that is experiencing rapid growth. The project entails constructing a new Fire Station and renovating and expanding an existing training facility.

The Fire Station is approximately 20,000 SF and includes living and sleeping quarters, offices, support spaces, five pull through apparatus bays and support spaces. The building is a custom steel frame structure with masonry and fiber cement plank exterior.

The original wood structure fire station located at the rear of the property is being fully renovated and converted into a 3,500 SF training classroom with associated support spaces.

Other site improvements include replacing the existing septic and well utilities with public utilities, covered parking, driveways, fencing, and demolition of a number of ancillary buildings.

The project is able to be completed in a single phase because the Fire Station was able to move to a temporary off-site location to maintain fire and rescue service in the area. Though still early in construction, the project is an example of the collaboration and working relationship between Marksmen General Contractors and MTR Engineers.
