Emilse was drawn to construction by the satisfaction of building something real, something that lasts for generations. Seeing projects come to life has only deepened her passion for the industry. Her first project at Marksmen GC, Stinson Middle School, was a trial by fire, but one that left a lasting impact. As an intern, she tackled challenges head-on and walked away with lessons that still shape her career today. Her advice to those just starting out? Be a sponge—soak up everything you can, because in this industry, the learning never stops.
Matt’s journey into construction started with a deep appreciation for architecture—especially timeless stone buildings and classic wooden taverns. He was drawn to the idea of creating structures that serve communities and stand the test of time. As a Marksmen GC intern, he quickly learned that construction is more than just building—it’s problem-solving, critical thinking, and teamwork. His most memorable project, Fire Station 123, came with its fair share of challenges, but overcoming them made the final result even more rewarding. His advice to interns? Stay humble, ask questions, and never stop learning. When challenges arise, he leans on his faith to stay focused, finding clarity and strength through prayer and reflection.
With a degree in the medical field, Olivia’s career took an unexpected turn in 2017 when she joined Marksmen for a temporary role. The collaborative environment and daily challenges sparked a passion for construction, transforming what began as a short-term opportunity into a fulfilling career. She thrives on problem-solving and working alongside talented coworkers and industry partners, likening her role to being a detective with hard hats and contracts. A memorable project for Olivia was the North East ISD Community Education Center, where she gained hands-on experience and insight into every phase of construction. This experience deepened her appreciation for the teamwork and collaboration required to deliver exceptional results.
